It's raining.
And I have had some crazy days with my boys' fluctuating A level results, GCSE results, University admin, student loan admin, opening new bank account etc etc.
Plus all my stuff: work and writing.
I needed an hour or two by myself. So what better treat than lying in bed reading The Berlin Shadow.
I know Johnathan a little because we live in the same village, but that's not why I'm writing this. All about his relationship with his father who arrived on the kindertransport, this book is moving and funny. It examines our strongest emotions and fraught relationships with forgiveness, humour and warmth. I wouldn't bother saving it for a rainy day. Read it when you can.
